HART COUNTY, Ga. – A Royston man was arrested after Hart County deputies reportedly found approximately 6.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop.
According to the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy conducted a traffic stop shortly after 3 p.m. Sept. 26 on Royston Highway at the Highway 17 Bypass. The stop involved a 2010 Toyota Camry and was initiated because of traffic violations.
The driver was identified as Matthew Duffell, 49, of Royston. During the investigation, deputies determined that Duffell was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
Deputies subsequently searched the vehicle and located approximately 6.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office.
Duffell was arrested and transported to the Hart County Jail.
He was charged with possession of methamphetamine, driving while license suspended, no insurance and suspended registration.
The sheriff’s office said the arrest was part of its continued traffic enforcement and drug interdiction efforts in Hart County.
The charges are allegations, and Duffell is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
