Winder Man Arrested After Alleged Attempted Vehicle Hijacking in Hart County

HART COUNTY, Ga. — A 37-year-old Winder man was arrested Sept. 15 after deputies say he attempted to force his way into a vehicle occupied by a woman in the Bakers Bridge Road area.

According to the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the area shortly after 7:30 a.m. following a report of a man attempting to enter a vehicle that was being driven and occupied by a woman.

While deputies searched the area, they received a second report that the same man was attempting to enter a nearby residence.

Deputies located the man and identified him as Michael Ryan Morris, 37, of Winder.

Following an investigation, deputies determined that Morris was wanted in Barrow County for a probation violation. Investigators also determined that Morris allegedly attempted to force his way into the woman’s vehicle while she was inside. The sheriff’s office said Morris had no connection to the woman.

Morris was arrested and charged with second-degree hijacking of a motor vehicle, a felony, as well as disorderly conduct, simple assault and loitering.

Following his arrest, Morris was transported by Hart County EMS to St. Mary’s Emergency Room for medical evaluation. After he was medically cleared, he was transported to the Hart County Jail.

The investigation was handled by deputies and investigators with the Hart County Sheriff’s Office.
